Welcome to a new week! Did you get to be creative this past weekend? I did, and it felt GREAT! I was able to clear most of my desk and get some things put away and organized a bit better. I’m not done, but it’s MUCH improved!
Last week, our challenge was to use a doily. We had 5 crafters jump in with projects ranging from altered art, cards and layouts! We had a great variety! There was a card that caught our eye this week, made by
She packed this card with amazing details and layers of embellishment! This card is a work of art! Beautiful job, Dian! Be sure to stop by and visit her blog to see more of her work. Thanks for sharing your card with us!
This week is lucky 13 for our Make Something Monday Challenge! We all love things that sparkle and shine, am I right? This week we are focusing on the SPARKLE! We want to see you use glitter, rhinestones, gems, and sequins.
Here is my card this week:
All over, cardmakers are layering diecuts to make their own thicker embellishment pieces. It’s particularly popular with sentiments. I’ve also seen layering a different color underneath to give a surprise fun pop of color. I decided to do that for this card!
I cut 5 layers of pink and one in black. I glued the pinks on top of one another and then finished with the black on top. The first layer was the most tricky to glue. The die cut was very delicate and just wanted to move all over! With each layer, it was easier to glue the next layer because it had more stability and body. The second part of the sentiment was stamped in versamark ink and embossed in black.
I added some clear wink of stella to the top of the black for some sparkle! I actually did two layers for extra glitter. And of course, I also added sequins to the card front. In the future, I’ll be sure to move the sentiment up – it ended up a bit lower than I intended. Still a lovely card!
My layout this week over at Nuts About Sketches also has a bit of sparkle – click over there to see what the design team has shared.
Today is also a very special day for Sam….it’s her BIRTHDAY!! Happy Birthday, friend! Be sure to stop by her blog to leave her some happy birthday wishes and see what she’s made that sparkles!
So, time to get your SPARKLE on! Break out the glitter! Sprinkle on some sequins! Bling it with rhinestones! Then be sure to link your creations below for a chance to be our featured crafter next week! See you on Wednesday!
